SLASH / JENKINS

The Norway Light is a table lamp designed in collaboration between Slash Objects and Thomas Jenkins. The light is comprised of a concrete shell, with embedded hardware and a pivoting brass disc. The disc rotates to direct the light up or down, allowing the soft glow behind the disc to illuminate space in multifarious ways. The concept came from an interest in kinetic light objects which could both be free standing, as well as bring together various materials.

The development of the thin concrete shell with embedded hardware was done in the Slash Objects studio in Brooklyn.

Thomas Jenkins is a British industrial designer now living in Oslo, Norway. After gaining experience in industry as a designer, he began his own studio in 2010.

Jenkins has a particular interest in material usage, in craft skills and in industrial methods of production. He creates designs that are focused on interaction and daily use.
